Takeaways from the Episode

1. DOES MY CHURCH VALUE ME?

If you are the type of person who believes you are a leader of leaders the fact of the matter is that it doesn’t matter if you believe that if your church doesn’t do that themselves. The way you know if your church believes in developing leaders of leaders ask yourself “Does my church value me?” Does your church value you more as a person then the results you bring in for them?

2. CARE ABOUT WHO YOUR STAFF IS BECOMING

Care more about who your staff is becoming then what they are doing. Give them freedom to make massive mistakes. This gives them opportunities to grow and go where God has called them. Doing this means you need to spend consistently pouring into them one on one. Spend time talking about who they are becoming rather than what they are doing. Make this a high priority.

3. FIND OPPORTUNITIES AND PROMOTE THEM TO STAFF

“Loyalty is not a fruit of the Spirit” – Andy Stanley. Seek out opportunities for not only your staff to grow but also to leave if possible. Raising up good leaders means that they may be called somewhere else. You must be secure in knowing that your best leaders may leave to serve God elsewhere. But if you hold on to opportunities and don’t promote them your staff won’t grow.

4. VALUE YOUR STAFF’S SPOUSE

Watch your staff’s work hours. Are they spending time at home with their spouse? Are they having date night? Have you seen their spouse in the past month? If the answers to these questions are no, you need to figure out what’s happening because chances are there is something wrong. Make sure you create space for your staff to spend time with their spouse and their family.

5. DON’T LET SATAN LIE

Satan will come to you and tell “This success is because of you, you deserve more.” Don’t believe this lie because it will destroy you and your leaders. Develop leaders and give any credit to God, don’t do anything else.

I’m looking for them to chase with all their energy with all their heart the calling Jesus has put on their life.” Click To Tweet “If you are a leader who has a problem with your best people leaving, then you have a problem.” Click To Tweet “If you put the church first, your wife will hate the church.” Click To Tweet “I struggle with pride, I struggle with control, I struggle with ‘I think I can do better’ which in the end is what got Satan kicked out of heaven” Click To Tweet
